Description
Uberti 1866 .44 WCF Lever rifle
It is a copy of the Winchester 1866. Winchester called it the 1866 “The Henry Improved” due to the Kings patented side loading gate. The indians commonly called the popular 1866 “The Yellow Boy” due to its brass frame.
It was an improvement over the Henry barrel and magazine as one piece Henry barrel. With the magazine open at the bottom leading to the 44 Flat aka 44 Henry Rim Fire to being susceptible to being dirty leading to jams. The 44 Henry Rim Fire was also weak with only 20 grain of black powder with a 200 or 218 grain bullet (if memory serves). The 1866 fired the 44 Henry Rim Fire cartridge. The copies fire the available 44-40 aka 44 WCF. That is due to the fact 44 rim fire has not been manufactured since the 1920s or early 1930s.
This gun has a brass receiver and nose cap, case hardened lever and hammer, octagon barrel.
It's in very good condition.
